Glycopolymers
Synthetic glycopolymers are essential macromolecules that display many structural and functional features. With functions similar to those of natural carbohydrates, synthetic glycopolymers with pendent sugar residues can play a significant role in pathological and biological processes via specific interactions. With recent advances in organic and polymers chemistry, functional glycopolymers can be prepared with remarkable ease. Our glycopolymers can be produced in large scale with high purity. On demand and custom made copolymers can also be produced.
Sugar based hydrogels are interesting materials for a range of applications. We have significant expertise in designing and fabricating tough, self healing, injectable and responsive hydrogels. These hydrogels are excellent 3D scaffolds for tissue and cell engineering, for wound dressing, drug and gene delivery and for other applications.
Sugar functionalized polymeric surfaces are promising materials for a wide range of applications. The presence of multiple carbohydrate moieties on surfaces can improve hydrophilicity, biocompatibility and detection. We have developed several strategies for rapid and robust gycosurfaces.
Glyco-functionalized nanoparticles or glycopolymer nanoparticles are excellent materials advanced delivery systems. The carbohydrate allows high stability in complex fluids and molecular recognition can be achieved depending on the type of sugars on the surface.
